How good?

So this is probably an omission that I’ve been living in the past for too long.

I might want to blame this on living on the farm, but I’m here to tell you about one of my new favourite apps.

This is “Too good to go”

The premise is solid. At the end of the day, shops can sell their surplus at a discount to those that come and get it.

The main reason I like this is because food waste should be avoided where possible so if I can do my bit buy buying up some surplus, I’m doing alright.

It’s also great because what you get is a little surprise. You order a “magic bag” and get a selection of what hasn’t sold at the end of the day. This is largely something that is taken up by independent retailers but it does also include some more familiar chains too.

I’ve taken up a magic bag from a local bakery / cafe and for less than £4. In it, I received 2 ham and cheese croissants, 2 pan au chocolates, 1 apple turnover and 1 almond croissant. And they were pretty tasty too! What a win!

The challenge here, is there are a limited number of magic bags from each place and some of the popular ones sell out in seconds. But it does give you the chance to have an extra indulgent breakfast knowing you’ve saved it from the bin!

Although, now there is a risk you’ll all know about it and we’ll be fighting over the same morning bun.
