Take a touchdown

I love a bit of live sport on the television, but last week I watched a sport I’d never really given time to before.

And there was one thing I learned.

I won’t be watching American Football again.

I’ll be honest I must have only watched a couple of minutes of the game, but that took about 15 minutes of my life.

The game is just so rigid. I get annoyed when rugby refs don’t play advantage as the counterattack or scramble defence is sometimes the most exciting part of the match. There is non of that in American football.

In fact, there’s not much of anything in the sport. I know a lot of people love it, and it’s growing in importance in the UK so thought it was worth giving it a chance, but I really don’t understand how anyone can enjoy it.

I joined during halftime and so was treated to the highlights of the first half and the highlights from another game, but that wasn’t that exciting either. So I really struggle to see the appeal.

If someone can tell me how to watch it again and what to look out for that is considered “fun” or “exciting” please let me know in the comments below!

I know I also have some US followers, so please do let me in on why you love it – or even if you’ve given rugby a chance and why that hasn’t taken off so well stateside.
