Lots of bugs

With nearly a year of being locked in our houses with limited trips for exercises allowed, we’ve all found a new love for the option to escape and be in the great outdoors.

It does seem, however, our love to be there isn’t quite as strong as our love to leave it as we found it.

Litter. It’s a huge issue.

In an effort to reduce carbon emissions, the Government has waged a war on plastics. I’ve long thought it should be a war on waste, not plastic. But recent unlocking suggests that we need a war on litter.

Still living in the countryside, I often encounter litter when walking the dog. Most disturbing of all is the number of Stella cans thrown out along the roadside. At this point, I’m not sure whether drinking Stella or littering is worse, but I sure as hell hope they’re not drink driving.

And this is the problem I have, if you’re in the cans in your car at what point you were able to store them full, so why not store them empty and take them to a suitable place to dispose of them.

I can almost understand the frustration some beauty spots have where the bins overflow and so rubbish is then blown around, but again, there’s no need to be a litter bug.

Now more than ever, we’re craving a trip to the beach, a park, or even just anywhere that aren’t the same four walls we’ve been staring at during the pandemic. So let’s consider how we’d like to find them, and make sure we leave them that way too.
