Last year I moaned about supermarket shopping. Read it here; that was a time when titles seemed more exciting too.
Today, I bring good news. This is a rare post, so enjoy it while you can!
I’ve discovered the wonder of scan as you shop. I think it is safe to say this is my new favourite way to shop. You collect your gadget and beep your way around the supermarket watching the total clock up. You then have the ability to stack your bags as you like and there is no need to unpack them until you get home. I don’t have to strategically stack the checkout for it all to go to pot. I can just do it once.
I also quite enjoy the scanning, a sense of power that comes with the gadget make the experience even more enjoyable.
The only issue I have with this is that it isn’t available at my local supermarket. Why bring joy to the shop to not make it possible every time I go?
That sounds like a fun thing to do!
Doesn’t it take away jobs from the cashiers, though? This aside, doesn’t it also allow for people to steal? You can just scan one item, but pack a couple into your bag? I’m curious how that would work.
But it definitely is annoying when you put everything in order in your cart, take it out at the register only to have everything thrown in together, mish-mash style. And the unpacking at home is tedious.

You have people there to do random searches of the items so guess the fear of being caught is a reason not to steal. They also have the standard security scanners to prevent theft. I guess it reduces the number of cashier jobs but so does self service

That explains it. I’d definitely would be open to trying to experience.
